FIRM PROFILE

Sam Manly was 2002-2003 president of the Kentucky Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers; a member of the Kentucky Criminal Justice Council (2002-2006), where he actively participated in drafting a complete revision of the Kentucky Penal Code; and is presently a member of the Criminal Rules Committee of the Supreme Court of Kentucky.  He took his undergraduate degree from Yale University (B.A. cum laude, 1967), and his law degree from the University of Virginia (J.D., 1970).

He defends citizens accused of criminal offenses at trial, on appeal and in post-conviction relief matters throughout Kentucky and, in appropriate federal cases, throughout the United States.

His civil practice includes constitutional law and litigation; civil rights law and litigation; personal injury and negligence litigation; commercial, business and antitrust litigation; intentional tort litigation; and estate, probate and trust matters. He is extensively involved, both as lecturer and participant, in continuing legal education seminars, professional associations and civic activities.
